You don't mention how his condition has been with the Aricept? I think you should do whatever suits you both. I'm sure he must have an opinion, does he enjoy camping; if so keep going. All the very best to you both.

thanks so much for all your input. they had me waling without a cane or walker in PT yesterday (very slowly). it was heel (tighten knee) toe kinda thing. did it all day and last night when walking (the tightening) this morning i am sore and the knee feels heavy. then when i was walking down the hall my knee cracked down the right side, OUCH! so all day i've been back to square one a little down. it has cracked before but never this loud and sore. sometimes it has that feeling like it needs to crack, something like a knuckle that needs to pop, does that sound familiar with anyone?

are you guys walking unaided and comfortable? I feel like I'm learning to walk all over again. I am doing the heel tighten knee, toe thingie to strengthen my knee and teach it to hold me up.

an update on my knee
it's me again and i just thought i'd pop in with an update to what's been happening with my knee. if you recall i had 2 surgeries, one in nov. 2007 for torn meninscus and april 2008 because of a dislocated patella that occurred because of the first surgery (don't know why and the doc doesn't either) i haven't been able to walk unaided since the first surgery. my doc wanted me to get another opinion because he doesn't know what's wrong.
my hmo didn't respond for ages to the request for a second opinion so i switched my insurance to a ppo and went to the doc i wanted to and he has sent me to do more physical therapy. he said my knee isn't looking very good but he would like to see me in 6 weeks after the physical therapy. i must add this physical therapy is so different than the first place i went to. they have me doing things much more thorough than the other one. what a shame my hmo had me going to a physical therapy that did me more harm than good. my opinion of course. i don't have a clue where i go from here but i do wish i had been to these people first.
the doc will decide about a tkr after he sees how my knee responds to the therapy. i just want to walk. i am working hard and hope that it helps one way or another.
dh is really getting itchy feet to go somewhere but we're in between motorhomes as we just donated ours to a cancer charity. i think this is the first time in our married life (32 years nov.) we've been without a camping vehicle of some sort lol. guess we might have to hotel it!

I think it's okay to vent, so go right ahead. Bottom line I think is to sell outright and count your blessing if you get close to what you owe. If you owe way more than you can get then just wait it out a while and keep knocking that interest down as much as possible. Good Luck!

Geeze that clear finger nail polish sounds like a weird treatment, I wonder if it works? If it does, why don't doctors recommend it?

Dave I'm so happy you decided to downsize now you can make those trips and camp anywhere you want. these smaller tt have a lot of nice floor plans that can nearly make them seem bigger. congrats and many happy trails to you both!

Okay Ginny it's your turn. Now you can get in here and complain or vent whatever floats your boat. It's good for the soul, believe me we all gain something from having one another to talk and share with.
I am having a hard time with my knees after 2 operations on the right, leaving my left weak. i'm seeing another specialist the 19th of september.
if you want to mike should show you that other forum, i think it was Pam that mentioned it, i went there and it's very interesting.
Anyway there is a mountain of info out there and if you get lost you can always come here we'd love to hear from you.

Better still give her the puter and let her read this stuff lol!!! I am so happy things are looking brighter for you both. You are a wonderful husband to be so concerned and thoughtful and worried all at the same time. when you said she was walking with her walker with a phone in her pocket i thought of myself lol. i walk with a walker or cane and always have a phone in my pocket, good thinking. Just a thought here, you say you own your home. maybe now is the time to put your home in your kids names. they have a look back period for that too so mybe sooner is better than later. I know they say not to do that because the kids will have to pay capital gains but sometimes it is necessary to save the home from creditors(the government)! could you just take out an equity loan, that may be easier than refinancing however, you probably would be better off with a first loan it's tax deductible and you'll get a ower interest rate? good luck and all the best to you.

I have a pretty good idea what the insurance/medical is in Canada my relatives are all there. My family lived there too when I was young. I have a cousin waiting on knee surgery and an aunt wainting on a hernia surgery.
Did you check out that site i put on there, that doc gets good marks.

Ice water baths helped because you were frozen and couldn't feel anything lol! This knee problem sounds horrible, doesn't anyone think you need to get a new knee now? I know they don't like to replace knees in young people but the quality of life for you has been terrible. I think you should go into some of the sites available under various knee surgeons, ortho docs, and see what's out there. Just google orthopedic surgeons and a city or state. The docs that belong to sports clinics may be a good place to start. click here there's one. They have a travel program, hotel etc.
I wish you the very best. I too am hobbling around waiting to see a specialist the 19th of september. I ahd 2 surgeries neither went well.

i wonder if you put your cars in your childrens names that your wife could qualify for some kind of insurance, we have medi-cal here in california for people that qualify. seems so wrong that you work all your life and end up not being able to get proper care for yourselves except if your illegal or on welfare...or in jail! this is america land of the free...hmmmm i sure hope things pan out. negotiate, explain your position. they will negotiate this with you.
and for whomever said it's your bill pay it....if your wife cannot qualify for insurance; a stay in the hospital could wipe a person out that isn't right. these prices are usually figuring you will have some kind of help, they need to know what your situation is and go from there. best of luck to you both!
